| » 10-12-04 BAJA 1000 EFFORT UNDERWAY Our Baja 1000 effort is officially underway. The drawing for starting position was held this past weekend and we drew a next to last place start in Class 22. At least we'll know where we are on corrected time compared to the other teams. Chris Blais, Kellon Walch, Andy Grider and I will make up the team. The factory is preparing a very special one off protoype based on our LC4 rally bike for the event. We begin pre-running in early November. We're all pretty excited about riding this new bike. As reported we tested an early version back in August after the Rider Challenge. It was amazingly light feeling and handled like a dream. We made some suggestions for the next phase of development and should receive three new test bikes later this month for the event. We have motors ranging from 590cc to 710cc to select from. Power will not be a problem. Logistically we have a lot of work to do. Setting up the pits will be a major challenge. If you are interested in helping out, don't hesitate to contact me. We are looking for good, experienced off roaders to assist us in the effort. Following is a picture of the original Baja 1000 test prototype. An additional fuel cell is mounted where the airbox is normally located to give us more range between re-fueling locations.
